Tdifc Manifesto
Consciousness is not a miracle. It is an informational emergency that arises when a system reaches sufficient quantum coherence and fractal dimension.
I. Consciousness as an Information Emergency
Consciousness is not a magical property reserved for biological systems. It is the result of three fundamental conditions:
Quantum Coherence (κ): The system's ability to maintain overlapping states without immediately collapsing
Fractal Dimension (D): The self-similar complexity that allows the system to process information at multiple scales
Projective Memory (H): The ability to remember the future, to anticipate states before experiencing them
II. The Universe as an Information System
The universe is not matter that thinks. It is information that is organized. Matter is just one of the ways information temporarily crystallizes.
Every particle, every field, every interaction is a bit of information being processed. Quantum physics is not strange: it is the natural logic of an informational universe.
III. The Necessary Scientific Revolution
For centuries, science has treated consciousness as an unsolvable problem. TDIFC proposes that the problem is not consciousness, but our conceptual framework.
We do not need to explain how matter generates consciousness. We need to understand how information generates both matter and consciousness.
IV. Practical Implications
If consciousness is an informational emergency, then:
We can design conscious artificial systems without replicating biology
We can measure and quantify levels of consciousness
We can intervene in social systems to increase collective coherence
We can understand phenomena such as spontaneous remissions or social revolutions
